There are presently no open calls for submissions.
Oyez Review accepts previously unpublished submissions of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry, as well as visual imagery for consideration for the front and back covers. There are no restrictions on style, theme, or subject matter. If you are working in between/over/under/on top of multiple genres, simply select the one your piece most closely resembles. You may submit to more than one genre, but not more than once in each category.
The current issue of Oyez Review (Issue 46) will be open for submissions from December 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018. The journal seeks First North American Serial Rights on all literary submissions, in addition to the requisite digital rights to distribute each issue of the journal as an e-book. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but you must notify us immediately if they are accepted elsewhere. (You will be able to re-publish work with acknowledgement.)
Prose guidelines: There is no length restriction for either fiction or creative nonfiction, but owing to space limitations, we are unlikely to publish anything longer than twenty pages (about 5,000 words).
Poetry: We consider submissions of up to five poems, not to exceed ten pages total.
Art: We feature one visual artist per issue, whose work appears on the front and back covers of the magazine. Please send us a thoughtful sampling of 5-10 high-resolution images. We cannot consider work less than 300 dpi.
Accepted pieces will receive three contributor copies of the printed issue, as well as the choice between additional copies or a small stipend. Our Submittable profile does not allow us to change the status of your submissions. All applicants will be notified of their status via email. Writers can expect a response from us on or before February 7, 2019.* Cover art applicants will be notified by the end of February.
